The Cure ha liberado en línea (streaming) 20 inéditas rarezas, de manera colectiva titulada "Alternative Rarities 1988-1989".

La serie de canciones en vivo, grabaciones de ensayos y demos no se asegura que sean editadas, aunque algunas pueden llegar a ser parte de la próxima versión remasterizada de su álbum de 1989 'Disintegration', que será puesto en libertad el 8 de junio según Amazon.

The Cure are streaming 20 unreleased rare tracks online, collectively entitled 'Alternative Rarities 1988-1989'.

The series of live songs, rehearsal recordings and demos are not set to be released, or are they part of the upcoming remastered version of their 1989 album 'Disintegration', which is released on Jun 8.

Including instrumental versions of 'Pictures Of You' and 'Fascination Street', plus live recordings from their 1989 Dallas gig of 'Faith' and 'Disintegration', the bonus material is being streamed at TheCureDisintegration.com.

Lost Wishes es una edición limitada en cassette grabada por The Cure y contiene 4 versiones instrumentales que no fueron incluidas en ningún album y se grabaron durante las sesiones de Wish en 1991. Este no es un lanzamiento comercial y estuvo disponible únicamente para el que lo solicitaba por correo a las oficinas de Londres de Fiction Records.

Review:

Lost Wishes is a limited edition cassette release by The Cure, containing four previously unreleased instrumental tracks which were recorded during the Wish sessions in 1991. It was not commercially released and was made available only via mail order from the Fiction Records offices in London.

All profits from this release were donated to the Portsmouth Down's Syndrome Trust.

"It started because Porl had written an excellent weird thing, very stirring, with bagpipes and harmonium which he really wanted to do but it didn't fit any of the lyrics I'd been writing. Simon had a piece too which is nominally called 'Off to Sleep', a nursery rhyme kind of sound, very gentle and sweet but if I tried to sing over it, it would get very morose. So we hit on the idea of a separate album of purely instrumental things...the fifth one sounded like a Cure backing track without me singing. That seemed a bit pointless so we shelved it for the moment but we'll probably get back to it" - Robert Smith.

Otro tributo alemán con la usual diversidad musical: relajante trip-hop (In your house por Escape With Romeo), electro-indus (Killing an Arab por Behind The Scene y The baby screams por Cat Fud), gothic rock (Just like heaven por In Mitra Medusa Inri y A night like this por The Crack Of Doom), pop electrónico (Lullaby pot Close Encounters and Seventeen seconds por Whispers In The Shadow), saqueo del sample (M por Convent), imitación de la versión original (The figurehead por Sophya), e incluso falsa grabación en directo (sí!) If only tonight we could sleep por PILORI. El lovecats electrónico de Yendri según leí uno de los mejores del disco, pero para mi opinión es todo lo contrario. Para finalizar el registro se incluye All cats are grey por Battery.
Debido al popurrí de generos, seguramente no te gustaran todos los temas; pero no por eso debes prescindir de este tributo a la banda que ha inspirado a generaciones musicales.
